Sea moss basics
What is Irish sea moss?
Irish sea moss is a red seaweed (Chondrus crispus) that grows on rocky Atlantic coastlines. It has been harvested off the coasts of Ireland and the Caribbean for generations, traditionally boiled into a gel and used in food and folk remedies. It is one of the most mineral-dense things the ocean grows, which is why it contains 92 of the trace minerals the body works with.
What is a sea moss bar?
A sea moss bar is a shelf-stable food bar built around wild-harvested Irish sea moss instead of the usual gel, capsule or powder. CMOSS Bars were the first of their kind: a 28g, 110-calorie bar made from organic dates, Manuka honey, organic coconut oil, organic chia seeds and Irish sea moss. You unwrap it and eat it — no fridge, no spoon, no blender.
Sea moss bar vs sea moss gel — what is the difference?
Gel has to be refrigerated, spoils in roughly two to three weeks, needs a spoon and a jar to wash, and tastes distinctly of the ocean, which is why most people bury it in a smoothie. A CMOSS Bar is shelf-stable for 6 to 8 months, needs no refrigeration or preparation, travels in a bag or desk drawer, and tastes like a honey-date treat. The sea moss is the same; the format is what changes.
How does it compare to sea moss capsules, powders or gummies?
Capsules and powders ask you to build a routine around them — measuring, mixing, remembering. Gummies are usually mostly sugar and gelatin. The bar is food: five real ingredients, one of which is Irish sea moss, that you eat the way you would eat any snack. Convenience is the point, because the reason most people quit sea moss is never the sea moss itself.
About the bars
Does it taste fishy like sea moss gel?
Not at all — it's the number one question we get. Raw sea moss has an earthy taste, so we formulated the bars with Manuka honey and organic dates. The natural sweeteners cover the seaweed flavor completely.
What's actually in a CMOSS Bar?
Five ingredients: organic dates, Manuka honey, organic coconut oil, organic chia seeds and wild-harvested Irish sea moss. Individual flavors add raw organic cacao, Madagascar vanilla bean or organic banana. Vitamin E is used as a natural preservative.
How big is a bar, and how many calories?
Each bar is 28g and 110 calories, with 92 trace minerals from Irish sea moss.
What flavors do you make?
Four: Original, Cacao, Madagascar Vanilla and Banana. Original is the plain five-ingredient bar. Cacao adds raw organic cacao for a dark chocolate depth. Madagascar Vanilla uses real vanilla bean. Banana uses real organic banana. You can mix any combination in one order.
Do I need to keep them in the fridge?
No. Unlike gel, CMOSS Bars are fully shelf-stable and stay fresh for 6–8 months in a pantry, gym bag or desk drawer. Keep them out of direct heat and they will hold their texture.
How many bars a day?
We suggest one. Each bar is a 28g serving, and one a day is how most customers eat them. If you have questions about how sea moss fits your diet, check with your doctor.
When is the best time to eat one?
Whenever it fits. Most people have one mid-morning, before a workout, with coffee, or in the mid-afternoon when a chocolate craving hits — the Cacao bar exists more or less for that moment.
Is there added sugar?
No refined sugar of any kind. The sweetness comes entirely from organic dates and Manuka honey, both of which are whole-food sweeteners that bring their own sugars. If you are counting total sugars for medical reasons, check the nutrition panel on the product page and talk to your doctor or dietitian.
Are they suitable for people with allergies?
The ingredients are simple — dates, honey, seeds, sea moss and coconut oil — but the bars are made in a facility that also processes tree nuts, soy, wheat and dairy. If you have severe allergies to any of those, please be cautious.
Are they vegan?
No. The bars are sweetened with Manuka honey, so they are not vegan. They are gluten-free, dairy-free and non-GMO.
Are they gluten-free and dairy-free?
Yes to both, and non-GMO. See the allergen note above regarding the shared facility.
Can I eat them if I am pregnant, nursing, or giving them to a child?
Sea moss is naturally high in iodine, and iodine intake is something worth being deliberate about during pregnancy, while nursing, and for young children. We are not in a position to give medical advice, so please talk to your doctor or paediatrician before adding sea moss to your diet or your child's.
I have a thyroid condition. Is sea moss okay for me?
Sea moss contains iodine, which affects thyroid function, so this is a genuine question for your doctor rather than for us. Bring the ingredient list with you and ask.
Where is the sea moss from, and where are the bars made?
The sea moss is wild-harvested Irish sea moss. The bars are made in the United States in small batches.

How do the multi-bar discounts work?
Add any mix of flavors to your cart. At 12 bars, 17% comes off automatically. At 30 bars, 33%. There's no code to enter and no fixed pack — choose however many of each flavor you want.
Can I mix flavors?
Yes. The discount counts total bars in your cart, so any combination of Original, Cacao, Madagascar Vanilla and Banana qualifies.
Do you offer subscriptions?
Not currently. The 30-bar discount is our best standing price.

How fast does it ship?
Orders leave our facility in 1–2 business days. You'll get tracking by email as soon as the label prints.
Is shipping free?
Free on orders over $50. Below that, shipping is calculated at checkout.
What if I don't like the taste?
